DOMAINE A. CHOPIN ET FILS

In the village of Comblanchien, just south of Nuits-Saint-Georges, brothers Arnaud and Alban Chopin represent the seventh generation of a family deeply rooted in Burgundian winegrowing.

Domaine A.Chopin et Fils spans ten hectares of prime vineyards across Côte de Nuit villages and Nuits-Saint-Georges, including Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Crus “Aux Murgers” and “Les Damodes,” Chambolle-Musigny, and the prestigious Clos Vougeot Grand Cru.

The Chopin name is well known in Burgundy, and its story is one of division and reunion. As noted by Clive Coates in his 1997 book Côte d’Or, the original family estate was split in the 1960s between brothers André and Daniel Chopin. André’s side eventually passed to his son Yves and then to his grandson Arnaud, while Daniel’s portion became part of the Chauvenet-Chopin estate. Today, Arnaud is reuniting the Comblanchien-based domaine, and in 2019 he reclaimed a fine plot of Clos de Vougeot from the original holdings.

Meticulous vineyard care and precision at every stage of winemaking have earned their wines growing acclaim in recent years. The vineyards are farmed entirely naturally: no herbicides or insecticides, and all work is done by hand. In the cellar, intervention is minimal, with bottling by gravity and without filtration. This approach yields small-production, terroir-driven wines that speak clearly of their origins—authentic, refined, and firmly anchored in their terroir. With a special focus on Pinot Noir, they also produce a small but captivating range of whites, well worth discovering.
