A composed of Garonne gravel left by the old Garonne in the Quaternary period during the Günz glaciation. This gravel is composed of pebbles, stones and gravel originating from the Massif Central and the Pyrenees. These are very poor and very filtering warm soils which are perfectly suited to the cultivation of vines and to a great maturity of the grapes. This terroir would be nothing without the climatic influence of the nearby river which softens the temperatures.
The vines are cultivated with the greatest respect for the environment. No herbicides or insecticides are used, making the vineyard an ecosystem rich in biodiversity. Manual harvest
Area: 12 ha

The Winery
Since the took over the family property in 1993, Eric Leglise has been concerned about natural viticulture practices. The vines have never been weeded. The vineyard will gradually revert to its original terroir through agricultural methods that are in agreement with nature (native plant cover, use of compost, crushing of branches, preservation of ecosystems near the vines, late mowing, etc.).Tillage is kept to a minimum, with the objective of preserving living things in the soil while also having the lowest possible carbon impact.
Today, the vineyard is covered with flowers in spring providing pollen and nectar to the various pollinators, bees and bumblebees, which populate this original biotope. Nearly 200 different species of fauna and flora have been recorded at Château le Coteau. Here we commit ourselves to let the purest character of the terroir express itself.
